In honor of World Environment Day, held every year in June, dedicated volunteers with The Mountain Valley® Brand teamed up with two representatives from the City of Hot Springs, Arkansas for a community clean-up effort along the city’s beloved parks and trails. Under the warm sun, the team gathered with a shared purpose—to give back to the environment and help preserve the natural beauty of Hot Springs.

Throughout the morning, team members fanned out across the trail, which totals 3.5 miles long, as they collected cans, wrappers, even some trash hidden under brush. Some employees were brave enough to get into the creek to pick up pieces of trash. Many filled garbage bag after garbage bag with litter. By the end of the day, they collected more than 15 bags of trash.

“We love supporting our community,” said Steve Taylor, Director, The Mountain Valley Distributor Network. “Days like this where we can clean up and not only provide clean spring water to drink but clean up as well.”

“It’s great to be out here and be part of the community,” said Judy Maccarone, Senior Recruiter, Talent Acquisition, Primo Brands. “We get to see teammates that we haven’t seen in a while. I think it’s just great teamwork.”

This is the second-year employees have participated in the Environmental Day of Action. Last year, they collected more than 600 pounds of trash cleaning up the same trail.

Though the final weight of trash collected is still being tallied for this year’s event, the impact was unmistakable—cleaner trails, stronger community bonds, and a shared sense of purpose.

On that same day, in Saratoga, New York, volunteers with Saratoga® Spring Water partnered with Sustainable Saratoga, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable practices and protecting natural resources in the Saratoga Springs area, to clean up part of Route 50, a state highway that travels through the heart of downtown Saratoga Springs, New York.

Volunteers picked up all types of trash along the well-traveled road and even cleaned up a nearby park.

“Even the smallest impact matters,” said Ryan Barclay, Sr. Plant Manager, Saratoga® Spring Water. “Coming together to clean up, enjoy the outdoors, and give back to the community – it just feels right. It was great to see colleagues interested in joining next time, and we hope this becomes something we do more often.”

World Environment Day is observed across more than 150 countries and is dedicated to raising awareness and sparking action for the environment.
