The mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine was a devastating event that deeply affected area communities and Poland Spring® employees on October 25, 2023. In response, Primo Brands and Poland Spring® are proud to have supported the City of Lewiston on the purchase of nearly 140 new ballistic vests for first responders and fire departments in six Maine communities.

The mass shooting claimed the lives of 18 people and wounded others, including Poland Spring® employee, Ben Dyer who works in the company’s Poland bottling facility.

“Our thoughts remain with the families of the victims and the survivors of the Lewiston tragedy, including Poland Spring® team member, Ben Dyer, who exemplifies resilience as he continues his recovery,” Joey Bergstein, CEO of Primo Brands. “The safety of our communities and the brave first responders who protect them is paramount to us.”

With the $150,000 donation, fire departments in Androscoggin County purchased the following bulletproof vests:

  • Lewiston: 75
  • Auburn: 21
  • Lisbon: 10
  • Poland: 10
  • Durham: 10
  • Turner: 10

“At Poland Spring®, we prioritize the safety of our associates, and the same should be true for the safety of area first responders,” said Heather Printup, Sr. Manager, Community Relation, Primo Brands. “This donation has made a meaningful impact on the citizens of Maine and we remain grateful to area first responders for their ongoing efforts to keep us safe.”
